Slow Learner is NOT Stupid
Monday is Magic Medicine Day
I know it seems like a rough day to put your creative cap on. Monday's are tough enough what with reentry into the office and whatever your work week routine may be. But what better way to ease the transition than to infuse it with the breath and life of creativity?
The point is to make it fun and easy. Grab a few odd items from your desk and make a mini temporary assemblage -- or make a few of them throughout the day.
Take a sketchpad to lunch or a meeting. Doodle.
Fiddle with a piece of clay.
And if all else fails, follow these links and make something virtually.
I'm still searching for a great online application that allows you to make cardboard characters. As soon as I find it, I'll post.

Saturday is Laundry Day
Every Saturday is laundry day in my life. And because laundry has a certain balance of mindfulness and repitition, it can be a kind of meditation.
As readers of this blog may know, I've used lint from my dryer for years in a variety of art making projects. When I Googled dryer lint art today, I found more inspiration than I have in previous years. Take a look at this.
I also make sacred dolls and funky balls out of dryer lint. The balls are particularly satisfying to make. Just take a bunch of lint, add a little water, roll and scrunch. Then leave to dry. They're a little irregular when made this way, but a small collection of them looks beautiful in a wooden bowl. Try it!

Wednesday is body wisdom day
Inspired by a weekend of attention to being present in body, mind and being, I've declared Wednesday Body Wisdom Day. And all that means is that I will be sharing with you whatever the universe has shared with me, through my body and the experiences of the day.
For the last several weeks, I've been focused on my left ankle. Having sprained it back in September, I finally sought out Physical Therapy and have been working on strengthening it for weeks.
It's not that big a joint, but it is huge in terms of everything from balance to body alignment. It effects everything above and below it. And once you've sprained an ankle, it's likely to keep getting sprained.
But the obstacle is the path and since there's no getting around it, one simply has to accept the circumstances and do the necessary work. Wear an ankle brace. Go to PT. Retrain the ankle to work like new.
And it's working. My ankle is getting stronger. I was able to take a karate class for the first time in what seems like months without pain or a brace.
And now my right shoulder is killing me. So much so that in yoga today, I stayed in child's pose while everyone else played with hand stand.
Basically, the shoulder is just screaming louder than the ankle. It's been bothering me for longer than the ankle actually. All those punches, and now downward dogs. My shoulder needs some love. It needs to be noticed and nurtured.
It will heal. And I look forward to the lessons it has to teach me.
My ankle has been a fabulous teacher. I've learned what it's like not to go all out in a karate class, but take it slow and stick it out. I've learned to not push through, but to back off. And I've got a whole new alignment thing going on. I'm still learning, retraining my sway back to relax into neutral.
As our weekend yoga teachers coached and coaxed us to do, I'm learning to do less.

Puerto Rico
Just back from a week in Puerto Rico where sun, rum, wind and sea swept through my hair to streak it almost blond, disguising the gray of my soul as well.
These pigeons in a park in Old San Juan were just one of the surprises of our visit. Thankfully devoid of the cruise ship tourists who turned the old part of the city into a day light nightmare. The bad clothes, the loud mouths... need I say more? The only thing worse than running into Americans in more exotic and distant lands is being in the midst of their swarm this close to home, and in a culture that could be so interesting if it weren't for the fact that Americanization is everywhere, in such large part due to the fact that most Americans want an American experience no matter where there are. Thankfully pigeon parks are full of droppings, which keeps your average American at bay.
Larry discovered a lovely little bronze sculpture here as well. The site overlooked San Juan harbor, and one could just feel the presence of a father and his small son standing there holding hands, looking out to the sea in an earlier time.
6th Malaysian Colorectal Conference
It was my great pleasure of being invited by Dr Paul, head of surgical department Hosp Seremban, to perform in the 6th Malaysian Colorectal Conference, taken place in Shangri-La Hotel KL on 7th-8th March 08. This conference is organized by MSCRS, and it was really a very successful one, and very informative with symposia, plenary and video sessions given by renowned international and local

FEEL 100%
(The above pic is copyrighted by culturecom)
Finally, one of my biggest wishes came true. I'm not really a comic-fans but FEEL 100% is a HK comic series that i've been collecting for many many years.
Believe it or not, the first vol of the series was published in year 1992, when i was only standard 4. The subsequent volumes were published at the speed of 1 vol/year without fail, and
