Today I traveled down to the World Financial Center Winter Garden to take a look-see at From the Art of New York - a benefit for Katrina that I donated a few pieces of String Theory to. Unfortunately, my pieces weren't hung! But Stephanie and Lanie were so apologetic and appreciative, I have to say, I wasn't even upset. Pulling together an event of this magnitude must be rife with difficulties, and one thing they don't need is an irate artist. I'm just happy to be a part of it all. And because they were so sweet, I'm now thinking I'm actually going to spring for the reduced rate artist ticket to the Mardi Gras gala, even though the price is a bit steep for me right now.

As I was leaving, Batotoyetu was taking the stage, and I sat spellbound to watch the kids dancing and the drums filling the Winter Garden with heartbeat.

Last Thursday, I went to the Exit Art benefit, where a Sol Le Witt wall painting valued at $90,000 was auctioned at $30,000. I had my astrology chart read, and visited with artists in their studio windows, caught up with my friend Bea (above) who was in prayingproject with me.
I've been keeping my nose buried in books recently. Am finishing up Autobiography of a Yogi, sped thru Broken Open by Omega co-founder Elizabeth Lesser, and deep into Shambala, the Way of the Warrior by Chogyam Trungpa.
Also chanting my heart out to Wah! with her newest cd, Savasana 2, and Jai! Jai! Jai! from 2003. I got the cd's thru cdbaby.com, and I've got to say it was the best internet shopping experience I've ever had. They send lovely little emails and enclose great notes in their packages. Not the standard corporate marketing messages. Much nicer, more human.
